pictures of the guests camera

Danzel C , Sep 05, 2010; 01:15 p.m.

with all the digital cameras sticking up in the air its hard to resist shots like this, for me at least. just wondering if others are doing the same and is their a way to make these shots even more interesting?

I've shot some like this, of course! The only thing better would be to also see the subjects being photographed.

I do it, too. I hope to get a close family member doing it, but sometimes the better cameras/shots are random. What I hate is when they're doing this over my shoulder of a shot I set up......grrrrr.

Theresa, I see similar remarks posted often and never understood why. From a guest shooter's perspective, wouldn't it be better for business to even go as far as inviting guests to shoot a couple of selected setups? I'm sure the generosity and good karma won't go unnoticed.

I have fun with this stuff. Here's a sample from a recent one.....

yep, whenever i get the chance i try to get this shot. more often than not, it's right down the centre of the aisle and you've the out-of-focus couple in the background. it always goes down well.
also, in dave's post above, i love that hair.

I often invite guests to move behind me and shoot over my shoulder for the formals....helps to get all the eyes looking my way :-)
Denzel, I frequently get that shot. Below I have the FOG taking a shot of his two sons at one of my last weddings.

As a matter of fact, two of my most favorite shots recently are because of those cameras popping up everywhere!
We have one of an uncle holding his HandyCam out in the aisle during the ceremony.
And with a little more serendipity, my hubby caught the same type photo while a family member was taping during the dance.

I'm making it a shot I try to seek out at every event, more than once even. And like Nadine said: "The only thing better would be to also see the subjects being photographed."

I do these too as they appeal to my soh. I also regularly turn around and get a photo off all the guests taking photos over my shoulder - it keeps it light hearted and helps maintain my position.
